Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of the Butterbase platform ("Service") operated by Butterbase ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you are using Butterbase on behalf of a company or organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind that entity.

1. The Service

Butterbase provides backend infrastructure - including databases, authentication, file storage, edge functions, real-time subscriptions, and an AI model gateway - accessible via a web dashboard and via MCP from AI coding tools.

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue any part of the Service with reasonable notice.

2. Your Account

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and API keys secure. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. One account per person or organisation.

3. Acceptable Use

You may use Butterbase to build any lawful application. You may not:

  • Store or transmit illegal, harmful, or infringing content
  • Send unsolicited bulk communications (spam)
  • Attempt to access or disrupt Butterbase's infrastructure or other users' apps
  • Mine cryptocurrency or run resource-intensive processes unrelated to your application
  • Use multiple accounts to circumvent free-tier limits
  • Resell or sublicence the Service to third parties

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. Your Data

You retain full ownership of all data, content, and code you store in Butterbase. You grant us a limited licence to store and process your data solely to provide the Service. We do not claim ownership of your content and do not use it for any purpose beyond operating your apps.

5. Plans and Payment

Paid plans are billed monthly or annually via Stripe. By subscribing, you authorise recurring charges. All fees are non-refundable except where required by law. We will give at least 30 days' notice of any price increase.

If you exceed your plan's limits, write operations are blocked until you upgrade or reduce usage - your data is never deleted for exceeding limits.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Butterbase's total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages including loss of data or business.

8. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with notice where practicable. On termination, your data is deleted within 30 days. For any questions, contact us at support@butterbase.ai.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will notify you at least 30 days before the new Terms take effect. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance.
